The nurse at my son’s school in the City of Manassas “gets it.” She understands that a fever means you are sick, and that no fevers means you may be faking. But children having a rough day still get care. She knows that sometimes some “magic” water and a smile go a long way.

It’s that individual attention that maybe you just need a Band-Aid or an ice pack and you’re good to go. Or, sometimes children really are ill, and need a parent to pick them up. While they wait, she assures them that they’ll get better, offering comfort. We’re grateful for her, even on our healthiest days!
